One caution, don't overbake or they will be hard. If you test with a toothpick, it should come out slightly gooey.
Date Nut Bars
1/4 cup butter or margarine (I like them better with margarine)
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 2/3 cup (one and two-thirds) cups Bisquick
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup chopped pecans
Powdered sugar (optional)
Mix margarine, sugar and egg thoroughly. Stir in Bisquick. Add dates and nuts (batter will be very thick). Spread in a greased 9 x 9 or 11 x 7 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Cool. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired. Cut in squares. Makes 2 dozen squares if using 11 x 7 pan.
